Tandem Skydiving: The Fastest, Easiest Way to Make Your First Jump

A tandem skydive starts with a 10-20 minute training session where you will meet your instructor, put on your harness, and learn how to exit the aircraft and the best body position for free fall. If you chose to get DVD video and photographs your videographer will also meet you at this point. You will then make your way to the airplane for a scenic ride to 13,000 to 14,000 feet.

When the airplane gets to jump altitude the pilot will give a three minute warning. At this time your instructor will give you a final gear check and help you get your goggles on. When the airplane is over the dropzone the door will open and when it's your turn you and your instructor will make your way to the door and jump!

You'll experience 60 seconds of free fall which really feels more like flying than falling. Your instructor will then deploy the parachute and you'll begin the parachuting part of the skydive. The parachute ride lasts about 5 minutes. Your instructor will guide you both back to the landing area while you enjoy the scenery of the Delmarva Peninsula. At just the right moment your instructor will flare the parachute for the softest possible landing.
